It can be a challenge to build professional-looking acoustic treatments for a home theater setting. If craftsmanship is your thing, go for it, don't let us discourage you. Some churches save as much as possible by building their own acoustic treatments using low cost materials like Roxul Mineral Wool or Rockboard 60. This can be a very affordable way to go. Keep in mind, you'll probably need to build wood frames to protect the edges of the acoustic material, fabric to cover the surface, and a back or other method for attaching them to the wall. Our 48x48 and 48x96 custom size acoustic panels might be a viable alternative.
