The low-range version of this bass trap has a membrane on the front surface that increases damping of low frequencies, and decreases absorption of high frequencies. This is useful for a boost to bass absorption, especially when you don’t need more absorption of mid and high frequencies in the room. The full-range version is a balanced absorber between bass, mids, and highs. Useful when when the room needs overall reverb reduction and moderate bass absorption is adequate for your application.

Test data from independent testing of this item by RAL, a leading acoustical laboratory. Testing was done with the original fabric version of these bass traps, placed against walls with the front and one side exposed. Performance of these bass traps with Sona fabric is extremely similar to the original fabric. Performance with microsuede fabric is lower at 500Hz and nearly identical at lower frequencies. NRC calculated based on the front dimensions, 8 square feet per bass trap. Performance will depend on how many sides of the bass trap are exposed in your installation. An air gap behind both sides of the bass trap will increase performance above what is shown here, while backing it fully into a corner will decrease performance below what is shown here.
